Infrared and Terahertz (THz) Research
Edmund Optics supports infrared (IR) and terahertz (THz) research systems with reflective IR optics, off-axis parabolic (OAP) mirrors, IR material windows, CVD diamond windows, polarization optics, ultrafast support components, motion hardware, optical mounts, and breadboards. These components are used in IR spectroscopy, terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS), ultrafast spectroscopy, imaging, and material characterization setups that require stable beam delivery, repeatable alignment, and practical sample access.
When selecting optical components, match each optic to the frequency or wavelength range of the experiment. Reflective optics, including protected-gold OAP mirrors, are often technically viable for steering and focusing THz radiation. MWIR/LWIR lenses, pellicles, and some IR windows should be treated as support optics unless their specified range overlaps the IR, far-IR, or THz band used in the experiment.

Gold Off-Axis Parabolic Mirrors with Alignment Through Holes are used in THz-TDS and pump-probe configurations, where focused, collimated beams must reach a target or sample simultaneously. Diamond-turned aluminum substrates and gold coating options support THz beam steering and focusing, as well as alignment-sensitive ultrafast systems.
Polykristalline CVD-Diamantfenster in optischer Güte von Coherent®
CVD Diamond Windows provide durable optical access for demanding THz, far-IR, microwave, and high-power laser research environments. Their broad spectral usability, high thermal conductivity, hardness, chemical resistance, and biocompatibility make them useful for detector housings, sample interfaces, and multi-spectral systems where standard window materials may be limiting.
UV- oder IR-Fenster
Infrared (IR) Material Windows provide optical access in THz, far-IR, and IR research systems for sample handling, detector protection, and enclosure integration. Available material options allow researchers to select a window based on transmission, durability, environmental requirements, wavelength range, and measurement geometry.
Siliziumoptiken
Silicon optics are used for beam control, optical access, filtering, and polarization management in NIR and MWIR research systems. Available components include lenses, windows, filters, mirrors, and polarizers for IR spectroscopy, imaging, ultrafast, and detector-support setups, with each optic selected according to the system’s required wavelength range.
Zinkselenidoptiken
Zinc Selenide (ZnSe) optics provide infrared transmission in MWIR and LWIR research systems for beam focusing, collimation, and optical access. ZnSe components are commonly used in CO2 laser, thermal imaging, hyperspectral, and other IR setups, including infrared beam paths adjacent to broader THz research systems.
Kalziumfluoridoptiken
Calcium fluoride (CaF₂) windows, lenses, prisms, and beamsplitters support the UV, visible, and infrared portions of terahertz generation and spectroscopy systems. Their low absorption, low refractive index, and high laser damage threshold make them well-suited for ultrafast pump-beam delivery, focusing, wavelength separation, and beam routing.
Reflektierende Wire-Grid-Polarisationsfilter
Wire Grid Polarizers control polarization in infrared spectroscopy, imaging, pump/probe, and polarization-sensitive research systems. High contrast IR wire grid polarizers and reflective wire grid polarizers are used to manage polarization state, improve contrast, support detector-side analysis, and study material responses where signal quality depends on electric-field orientation.
Ultrakurzpulsoptiken
Ultrafast Optics are used in femtosecond laser beam paths in pump/probe spectroscopy, nonlinear optics, THz-TDS, and other time-resolved research systems. Ultrafast mirrors, beamsplitters, and dispersion-control optics are used for beam routing, pulse management, and repeatable alignment in IR and THz-adjacent experimental layouts.

Reflective Beam Expanders use mirror-based optics to expand ultrafast, broadband, and infrared laser beams without the chromatic aberration associated with refractive beam expanders. These beam expanders are used in pump/probe spectroscopy, ultrafast laser systems, IR research setups, and THz-adjacent layouts where stable beam expansion and low-dispersion beam control are important.
